Illuminations has been thrilling Epcot’s guests since the late 1980’s. This week I take a look at everything that makes this show great like the music, fireworks, pyrotechnics, and much more! Check out this week’s Word of the Week – Illuminations.
Even though the show has been in EPCOT Center (or Epcot) for parts of four decades, Illuminations still packs in the crowds each and every night. The sheer size and scope of the nighttime show is not matched anywhere else in Walt Disney World. On this episode of the Word of the Week, I’ll take you backstage, behind the scenes of Illuminations, and I’ll reveal just how certain parts of this amazing show are accomplished!
Lee Cockerell is the former VP of Operations for the entire Walt Disney World Resort. This week I had the chance to catch up with Lee and have a conversation about Disney’s world-class guest service, extinct attractions, his hopes for the future of the company and much more! Check out Episode 35: A Conversation With Lee Cockerell!
In his career with the Disney Company, Lee Cockerell opened EuroDisney (now known as Disneyland Paris), created the Disney Great Leader Strategies (which trained and developed over 7,000 leaders in Walt Disney World), and oversaw more than 40,000 cast members who worked at the Walt Disney World Resort. In the years after his retirement, Lee has written four books, he’s become a prolific public speaker, and he has a weekly podcast dedicated to helping those in the guest service industry.

The name Herb Ryman might not exactly be a household name, but Walt Disney World and Disneyland would be very different places if it weren’t for this Disney Legend’s work. This week, I’ll take you back to one of the most important weekends ever in the history of the Disney company in Word of the Week – Herb.
Famous for his concepts of Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street USA in Disneyland and for Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World, Herb Ryman was as instrumental as any other Disney Imagineer in the design, experience, and feel of the Disney theme parks.

Since everyone knows that calories do not count while on vacation, especially in Walt Disney World, this week my guest Chuck Rodriguez and I had a fun conversation about where we think you can find the Best Desserts in Walt Disney World!
Whether it’s a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, a Candy Apple, Gelato from the Italy Pavilion in Epcot, or any of the other phenomenal selections in the parks, resorts, or the wildly popular Disney Springs, WDW truly has a fantastic dessert selection. Some are better than others, of course, and this week Chuck and I will point you toward just a few of our favorites!
